EVERYONE WHO WATCHES YOUTUBE PLEASE READ

markimoo-is-love-and-life:

You guys, I was just watching The Young Blood Chronicles and the video cut randomly and the window minimized - weird shit right so I’m not sure if it’s because of what I’m about to tell you or I just clicked something by accident.

So as you know Poltergeist is coming out and there’s been a post already made about the ad on Tumblr. They spread to YouTube.

The ad:

  • Black screen with blue static words saying something - I was too startled to catch it. But its for a second or so, you might have enough time to close the window.
  • That fucking clown showed up on the video and it turned and shit really creepy and stared directly at me.
  • Then blue and black static and messed up with the girl saying some shit.

I wanted to let you all know to prevent possible anxiety attacks. I know I’m rather startled myself about it now and I want you all to stay safe. Love you all. ♥

goigeous:

we should have to consent to that shit omfg

katanamasako:

This shit got me good this morning right after I got up too. It’s why I was pretty quiet before work, I was working through a panic attack >>’ Now that I think of it, I’m probably going to write in a complaint to youtube, not that they’ll do anything but it doesn’t hurt, i’m sure.

powder-roseate:

Even in youtube? Oh no…..

jelly-jelly-jello:

When the Evil Dead remake came out, there was an ad that started with the possessed girl freaking out saying directly to the viewer
“DON’T PRESS THE SKIP BUTTON. DON'TPRESSTHESKIPBUTTON.”

I was home alone.

I ended up sitting underneath of my computer desk crying for two hours with my cat trying to comfort me until my family came home.

Youtube needs to be more aware.

five-5-sixers:

I hate this, this is awful. Like speaking specifically as someone well versed in horror, this is unfair and unpleasant and it seems to be getting more common? Be safe guys.

huntingachievements:

I’ve always said that they shouldn’t put adverts for horror films on Youtube. You don’t know who’s watching. It could be a small child, someone with epilepsy or someone who is prone to really serious panic attacks. They should take care of their users and consider that not everyone is safe if they watch these adverts. I don’t suffer from panic attacks but horror films really freak me out. They should have a slate before the advert asking for the user’s consent. They do it before videos with adult content or if there are expletives in the video, why not for horror adverts that could affect someone’s health?

my teacher sent a student home today because the student had had an anxiety attack earlier in the morning and she said “if you have a broken bone, you don’t just keep walking on it and damaging it more, you treat it. Your mental health is the same. Health then school.”

I was about to get really angry but it took a different turn than I expected

we really need more teachers like this

depression is when you don’t really care about anything

anxiety is when you care too much about everything

and having both is just like what

Having both is staying in bed because you don’t want to go to school and then panicking because you don’t want to fail. Having both is wanting to go see your friends so you don’t lose them all, then staying home in bed because you don’t want to make the effort. Having both is insanely hard and sucks to deal with.

I can confirm it is one of the eight levels of hell.

panic/anxiety attack

vye-leviathan:

pushed-too-far:

chris-sid:

jaspinder:

  • breath in for 4 seconds
  • hold your breath for 7 seconds
  • exhale breath for 8 seconds

repeat once or twice more.

This causes an autonomic nervous system shift from a sympathetic (fight or flight reaction) state to a parasympathetic response.

Use this for panic/anxiety attacks, exams, presentations.

Never not repost

Soup got anxiety advice. Fuck yeah.

Read this earlier, and it helped me a lot tonight.

Apparently if you have an anxiety disorder you can go backwards in time.

Are you kidding? I can go back to that exact moment when I was 6 and I said something embarrassing any time I like.

well that’s just painfully accurate

Conceal, don’t feel. Don’t let them know.

"[With Elsa, it] definitely was intentional to show anxiety and depression." - JENNIFER LEE (x)

THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS THIS MOVIE IS SO IMPORTANT.

Like yes, I agree with the major criticisms going around tumblr re: racism and heteronormativity and not enough major female characters YES, they’re all valid points.  I just don’t understand the bloodlust towards Frozen more than, say, Tangled.  These issues aren’t unique to this movie; they’re widespread societal problems and that leaks into our media.  It can still be a good/enjoyable movie.  I see you SJWers enjoying Aladdin at the same time and that shit’s racist as hell.  Just because something has problematic elements doesn’t make it bad.

BUT THIS CHARACTER IS SO FUCKING IMPORTANT.  Because little girls are obsessed with her, they’re latching on to her.  Little girls love Elsa.  And she’s a Disney Princess with major neuroses.  (I know this is Anna’s story but Elsa’s more popular.)  And it shows a main female character with major anxiety and depression issues, and it shows her as a powerful, strong, loving person around those issues, and it shows her as an incredibly positive character.

A lot of people are saying that the story would’ve been better if Elsa’d been the antagonist, and she wasoriginally intended to be until that changed in development.  And you know what, it’s for the best because she’s a protagonist with mental issues.  It’s easy and common to give those to a villain.  Villains are twisted and they hurt people because they’re not Good People.  Disney Princesses might not be perfectbut they’re damn close to it and their faults are charming and cute and not crippling.  Elsa’s issues and her failure to deal with them are crippling.

So many teens and adults have identified with her issues, and seeing them portrayed in a positive and beloved character is so fucking important, because children see that not just scary weirdos have mental issues.  Elsa hurts people because of her issues.  She doesn’t mean to but she hurts her parents and sister and kingdom and strangers, emotionally and physically.  And she’s a Good Guy.  Not only is she a Good Guy, she’s a Disney Princess.  They’re not supposed to hurt people — except oh maybe hurt feelings because they were following their dreams or something saccharine like that.

And she makes a series of bad choices, selfish choices, because she can’t deal with her issues.  Just like real people.  She’s not a bad person because she makes bad choices stemming from her neuroses.  Little kids see someone who’s awesome! with anxiety and depression and they see that she’s more than just her issues, and she’s deserving of love
